Martissant, Haiti, is a dense, depressed urban area on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince. Resources for clean water there are few, and people are forced to buy unfiltered, unclean water from street vendors. Now people can go to a church in their neighborhood to find clean, safe drinking water from the well provided through the Haiti Water Project in January 2009.
EARTHQUAKE UPDATE:
While Martissant has suffered much damage from the recent earthquake, the HWP well is operational and providing clean water to the community.
